Why he matters for Base
Base is a Layer 2 that settles on Ethereum. Every L2 inherits its security from Ethereum L1 — and Vitalik Buterin is the most public figure behind Ethereum, having co-founded it and proposed its original whitepaper in late 2013.
Influence on L2 design
Many of the design tradeoffs L2s like Base make — data availability choices, fraud proofs, EIP-4844 blobs — trace back to Ethereum roadmap proposals Vitalik has championed publicly.
