The first edition (2023)
Onchain Summer ran for the first time in August 2023, coinciding with Base mainnet opening to the public. The format: a daily lineup of drops, mints and brand activations on Base across the run of the campaign.
Why it matters
Onchain Summer is the moment Base proves to non-crypto brands that an L2 can carry consumer attention. Each edition has brought in bigger consumer brands and creators, often with NFT mints on Zora, custom Frames on Farcaster, and Coinbase-fronted partnerships.
