Matt Furie is an American artist who created the comic Boy's Club, first published in the mid-2000s. The comic introduced characters that the internet later adopted independently: Pepe the Frog became the most-shared meme of the 2010s; Brett, Andy and Landwolf followed.
Connection to Base memecoins
Several flagship Base memecoins — BRETT, ANDY among them — are named after Furie's characters. The tokens themselves were launched by community members; the characters and original art remain his work.
