Basenames
Human-readable names for Base addresses — ENS, but for Base.
Format
<name>.base.eth
Powered by

Network
Base mainnet
What it is
A Basename like `vitalik.base.eth` resolves to a Base address — and to an avatar, a bio, social links, and other onchain records. It is built on the ENS standard, so any wallet that resolves ENS also resolves Basenames.
Pricing
Names are sold via a pricing curve: shorter names cost more, longer names cost less. Most casual users pick a 5+ character name for a few dollars per year.
- 3 chars: very expensive (premium tier)
- 4 chars: still pricey
- 5+ chars: cheap, accessible
Why claim one
It replaces the ugly 0xabc...def in every UI with your name. It is the foundation of onchain identity — apps use Basenames for profiles, social, tipping, payments.
TIPClaim your Basename before the consumer Base app launches widely — short names are going fast.
